Robert
E. Corry, Jr. was born in
Mobile, Alabama on December
22, 1935. He received a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University
of Alabama in 1957. At George
Washington University Law
School he served on the Board
of Editors of the George Washington
Law Review and graduated with
honors in 1964. He was admitted
to the bar in Georgia in 1964.
From 1970-1973, Mr. Corry
was an Adjunct Professor of
Law (litigation) at Emory
University School of Law.
In
1985, he and R. Clay Porter
formed the law firm of
Dennis
& Corry, presently Dennis,
Corry, Porter & Smith,
L.L.P., for the express
purpose of defending motor
carriers and otherwise
providing counsel to the
truck and truck insurance
industry. He has authored
several articles relating
to the trucking industry
including,
"An Insider's Guide
to Accident Investigation,"
published in The Private
Carrier, July 1987 and "Do
You Know What You Should
About Drivers You Hire" that
appeared in the September
1992 issue of Transport Topics.
Currently, he is a member
of the Atlanta and American
Bar Associations, State Bar
of Georgia, Lawyers Club
of Atlanta, International
Association of Defense Counsel,
Georgia Defense Lawyers Association,
Georgia Motor Trucking Association,
The Advocates Club and the
Trucking Industry Defense
Association. He is a frequent
speaker at industry seminars
sponsored by the American
Trucking Association, Trucking
Industry Defense Association
and National Tank Truck Carriers
Conference. Most recently,
Mr. Corry spoke at a national
meeting of the Transportation
Research Board of the National
Academies in March 2005 and
at a meeting of the Federal
Bar Association in April
2005..
