Stephanie Collings Patel was born in Fresno, California on August 15, 1970. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from New York University in 1992. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Delta Phi. She graduated from Emory University School of Law. While at Emory, Ms. Patel was a member of the Order of Advocates and Moot Court Special Teams. She was admitted to the bar in Georgia in 1996.

Currently, she is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and the Lawyer's Club of Atlanta.
