 Zachary S. Shewmaker was born in Danville, Kentucky on March 31, 1981. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Centre College in 1999, where he majored in English and History. Mr. Shewmaker attended the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law from 2003-2004 before transferring to the University of Georgia School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2006.
During his two years at the University of Georgia School of Law, Mr. Shewmaker was a member of the Prosecutorial Clinic and the Mock Trial Board. In November of 2004 and 2005, he represented UGA at the William W. Daniel Invitation Mock Trial Competition held in Atlanta, Georgia. In February 2006, he was the student-coach for the UGA Mock Trial teams that won the regional National Trial Competition tournament, held in Gainesville, Florida.
In addition to all state courts in Georgia, he is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
