Dennis, Corry, Smith & Dixon, L.L.P. has been engaged in the defense of motor carriers and truck insurers for over 30 years. We represent trucking companies and their insurers throughout the nation. Firm members are experienced in handling on-scene investigations, supervising serious injury investigations and handling serious injury and wrongful death cases to completion. The Firm maintains a network of independent adjusters, medical experts, accident reconstruction experts and others to assist in the investigation of serious losses.

Our lawyers have extensive trial experience and have taken hundreds of expert depositions. We are particularly knowledgeable in the federal regulations applicable to motor carriers. Members of the firm consult on motor carrier safety issues and have represented groups of motor carriers in filing petitions to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in connection with safety regulations. We also handle claims for cargo loss and damage, including claims involving air, motor, ocean, and railroad carriers, freight brokers, third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and indirect carriers of all types.

Grant B. Smith has served as President of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and the past chair of the American Bar Association’s Commercial Transportation Litigation Committee. 

Members of the Firm are frequent speakers at seminars and meetings for The Defense Research Institute, The Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, the American Trucking Associations, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, the National Conference of Freight Counsel, the National Truck and Heavy Equipment Claims Conference, the Association for Transportation Law, Logistics and Policy, and other truck industry organizations.

The firm has authored an industry treatise entitled Motor Carrier Liability that addresses recurring problems in the trucking industry. Motor Carrier Liability addresses truck claims, including the investigation of accidents, the defense of a lawsuit, motor carrier safety programs, the latest developments in cargo claims, insurance issues, including those unique to the trucking industry, and many other subjects.
